R.K. Lighting is tucked away in the Sunmill Compound over at the Andhyaru Ind. Estate, unit 223. Lower Parel is always a bit of a maze with all the old industrial buildings and new offices, but we've been in this spot for quite some time. The workshop is usually bright because, well, we deal with lights all day. We have all sorts of fixtures and bulbs hanging around or tucked into crates. It’s a lot of manual work, testing sockets and making sure the wiring is solid. Sometimes the estate gets really busy and it's hard to find a parking spot for the delivery vans, but we make it work. We spend our mornings checking over the orders and our afternoons usually involve a lot of packing and unpacking. It’s not the most glamorous job, but we like seeing how a good light can change a room. We aren't a big corporation, just a team of people who know their way around a circuit board and a lampshade. Being in Sunmill Compound means we see a lot of different people coming through for various things. We mostly just keep to our bench and get the assembly done. If you ever wander into the Andhyaru estate, you’ll probably hear us working. It is just a steady, daily routine for us here in Lower Parel, and we don't plan on moving any time soon. We just take the work as it comes and try to be helpful.
