We are located in the Contractor’s Colony in Joda, which is up in the Keonjhar district of Orissa. This place is right in the heart of the mining belt, so there is red dust everywhere and heavy trucks are a constant sight on the roads. Our office is C/O Sadananda Bhattachacharjee, and it’s a simple, functional building that fits in with the rest of the colony. It’s not the easiest place to get to, as Joda is quite a distance from the bigger cities, but it’s where the work is. We handle the local logistics and coordination for the company from here. The office is pretty basic—just desks, some filing cabinets, and the equipment we need to stay connected. It’s a small, tight-knit group of people working here. We deal with the local weather, which can be quite rainy or very dusty depending on the season. Life in a contractor’s colony is pretty quiet after work hours, but during the day, it’s all business. We don’t have much use for fancy decorations or polished interiors. We just need a place that works so we can manage our responsibilities. Every day is about checking schedules, talking to the guys on the ground, and making sure the paperwork is in order. It’s a rugged part of the country, and our office reflects that practical, down-to-earth way of doing things. We just keep our heads down and get through the tasks.
