About Rashtriya Furnitures – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Mumbai
We are down here at Gandhi Chowk in Dahisar West, right near Mota Mandir at B 13. My dad started this place a long time ago and I just keep it running now. We have lots of chairs and tables piled up, sometimes it's hard to walk through the aisles but we know where everything is. People from the neighborhood come by when they need a stool or a cupboard for their new flat. It gets quite dusty with the road work nearby so we spend half the morning just cleaning the glass. Rashtriya Furnitures isn't a fancy showroom with lights and air conditioning. It’s just a shop. Most days I’m sitting near the door watching the traffic go by while waiting for a delivery truck. We handle wood and some metal stuff too. If someone brings a sketch of a bed they want, we try to get it done. The tea stall next door is where I spend my breaks. It’s a busy spot especially in the evenings when everyone is coming home from the station. We don't have a website or anything like that, just the shop here. Sometimes the rains make it hard to keep the wood dry but we manage with plastic sheets. It’s a simple life. We just sell furniture to the local folks and try to keep the doors open six days a week. Nothing more to it really. Just come by if you are in the Dahisar area. It is a good place to see what we have.
