We are tucked away in unit 319 of the Unique Industrial Estate on V.S. Marg. If you know Prabhadevi, you know how the traffic can get around here, especially when the rains start. Our space isn't much to look at. It's a manufacturing unit, so there's always the sound of machinery and the smell of metal in the air. We've been here for quite some time now, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we're usually too busy to worry about that. There are about ten of us working here most days. We start early, around 9 am, and the first thing we do is get the machines warmed up. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, but we have a couple of big fans that keep the air moving. Most of our day is spent looking at specs and making sure things are coming off the line the way they should. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room. If someone drops by, they usually just find us on the floor or sitting at the back desk cluttered with ledgers and old invoices. It’s hard work and it’s greasy, but it’s what we know how to do. We just keep our heads down and get the orders out. Sometimes we stay late when a big shipment is due, ordering tea from the stall downstairs to keep going. It’s just a normal factory life for us.
