R. Vipul & Company

R. Vipul & Company has been operating out of Shreeji Arcade at the Opera House for quite a few years now. If you know this part of Mumbai, you know how crowded and loud it gets with all the diamond traders and couriers rushing around. Our office at number 2 is small and usually filled with stacks of ledgers and old files that we really should probably clear out one day. The windows don’t block out much of the street noise, so we work to the constant sound of honking and people shouting. Most mornings start with a quick cleanup of the desks and then diving into the paperwork that never seems to end. We are just a small group of people trying to keep things organized. We don't have any fancy boardroom or expensive furniture; just some sturdy desks and chairs that have seen better days. The tea man comes by twice a day and that is usually the highlight when we all take a ten-minute break to talk about the weather or the local news. Dealing with the logistics in this area can be a real headache because the lanes are so narrow. We spend a lot of time on the phone coordinating things and making sure nothing gets lost in the shuffle. It is not the most glamorous job in the world, but it keeps us busy and we have built a life here. We just do our work and go home like everyone else.
