R. R. Diamond Tools

R. R. Diamond Tools is tucked away in Daulat Udyog Bhavan over in Chembur. We are at unit number 14, right in Wadavili Village. It’s a bit of a walk from the main Dr. C. G. Road if the traffic is bad, which it usually is. We make and sell diamond tools used for cutting and grinding. It’s precise work, but the workshop gets noisy with the machines going all day. The tea guy comes by twice a day and that’s usually when we take a break from the grit and dust. The space isn't huge, but we’ve organized the benches so everyone has room to move. We’ve been in Chembur for a good bit now. Most of our regulars are from the nearby industrial estates. They come by when they’ve worn out their blades or need something specific for a stone job. We don’t do much talking, mostly just measuring and checking the edges of the tools. The building itself is old, typical for this part of Mumbai. Sometimes the lift acts up, so we end up carrying boxes up the stairs. It’s just how it goes in a place like this. We keep the inventory on some metal racks in the corner. If someone asks for something we don't have, we try to see if we can get it made soon. It’s just a small team of us here, doing the best we can with the tools we have.
