R. K. Rathod & Sons has its roots deep in Nagdevi Cross Lane. If you have ever been down near Masjid Bunder station, you know how packed those streets get. Our place is at number fifty-six, right in the thick of things. It’s an old building, and we have been here for a long time. People come to this area specifically when they are looking for hardware or tools, and we are just one of the many shops that have been part of this community for generations. My family has been handling things here, and now we just carry on with the same daily routine. The shop is small and crowded with all sorts of items piled up on shelves. It’s not very organized to an outsider's eye, but we know exactly where everything is kept. Every morning starts with opening the shutters and cleaning the dust off the counter. We talk to a lot of different people, from small repairmen to bigger contractors who need supplies in bulk. The noise from the station and the handcarts passing by is constant. We don’t have a website or fancy brochures. Most of our business comes from people who have known us for years. It’s honest work, and we just try to keep things moving as best as we can in this busy corner of Mumbai. There is always someone coming in with a specific bolt or tool they need matched.
