Proton Construction Ltd is based out of 304 Goregaon East. It’s a typical Mumbai office space, nothing too flashy. We focus on construction projects across the city. Most days, the office is half-empty because everyone is out at the actual building sites. That’s where the real work happens, after all. We deal with all the stuff that goes into putting up a building—the planning, the materials, and managing the crews. Goregaon East has become such a hub for development lately, so being situated here makes sense for us. It’s easy to get to different parts of the suburbs from this spot. We’ve got a small team in the office handling the permits and the phone calls. It’s a lot of coordination. You’ve got to make sure the cement arrives when it’s supposed to and that the rain doesn’t mess up the schedule too much. We don't have a big glossy brochure or anything. We just show people what we’ve built recently. It’s practical work. We’ve had our ups and downs like any business, but we keep at it. The tea stalls nearby are where most of the actual talking gets done during breaks. We just want to build things that stay up and do what they are supposed to do. It’s not complicated, just a lot of hard work and keeping track of a million small details at once.
