You can find us at 2/7 in the Ishapue Seth Compound. We are pretty close to the 90 Feet Road and right by the police chowki in Sakinaka. This area is always moving, lots of trucks and noise from the industrial shops that surround us on all sides. I spend most of my morning counting out different types of nuts, bolts, and washers to put them into the right bins. It’s a bit of a dusty job, and the compound gets quite crowded with deliveries and laborers moving items throughout the day. My hands are usually a bit greasy from handling the metal hardware, but that’s just part of the work I do. The shop is filled with metal shelves from floor to ceiling, and I know exactly where every single item is kept, even if it looks like a total mess to someone just walking in. It’s not the kind of place where you’d come for a long chat, though some of the regulars who work nearby stay for a minute to talk about their current construction projects. When the monsoon hits, the road outside gets a bit muddy and flooded, and we have to be very careful with the stock kept near the door. It’s a straightforward business with no frills. I open up early in the morning, deal with the daily orders, and close up when the sun goes down. There’s no big neon sign or anything, just the work we do every day in this little corner of Sakinaka.
