Orient Press Ltd. has been at No. 20 Pragati Industrial Estate for a long time. We are on N. M. Joshi Marg, which is a very old and busy part of the city with a lot of history in printing and textiles. The building itself is an old industrial style, and our floor is constantly vibrating from the heavy printing presses. There is a very specific smell here—a mix of heavy ink, machine oil, and old paper. It’s a smell you never really get out of your clothes. We have these massive machines that take up most of the room, and when they are running at full speed, you have to shout to be heard over them. It’s a very physical kind of work, moving heavy stacks of paper and loading the ink rollers carefully. We have people here who have worked these same machines for decades. They know exactly how to tweak them when the alignment is slightly off. It’s not the kind of place where people wear suits or fancy ties. We are usually in old clothes that we don't mind getting stained. The break room is just a corner with a kettle and some old chairs where we sit for ten minutes. We take pride in the fact that we can still do things the traditional way even while everything else is becoming digital. It’s noisy, messy, and hard work, but it’s what we do.
