Pondichery Cafe

Sitting here at Bandra East 2nd Main Road, Palace C 57, you get to see a lot of the neighborhood life go by. We opened up this spot because we wanted a place where the locals could just sit for a bit. It’s not a very big place and sometimes the tables feel a little close together when it’s full. The kitchen gets pretty loud with the pans clanking and the orders being shouted out. We don’t have any fancy decorations on the walls, just some plain paint and the usual chairs that have been here for a while. Usually, the morning starts with setting up the coffee machine and getting the first batch of food prepped for the lunch crowd. Bandra is always moving fast, so it feels good to have this little corner where things slow down just a tiny bit. We spend a lot of time wiping down the counters and checking the supplies in the back. The staff mostly knows the regulars by now, so there’s a lot of nodding and quick hellos. It’s a lot of work staying on your feet all day, but that’s just the nature of the business. We try to keep things simple and just focus on getting the plates out. There is no secret to it, just showing up, opening the doors, and making sure there is enough food for everyone who walks in.
