We are over at 104 in the K. K. Gupta Industrial Estate in Mulund West. It is right across from where the old Jawahar Talkies used to be on Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road. This area is always full of trucks and the sound of machinery. Our shop is a bit cramped because we have so much equipment and different plastic accessories piled up. It’s an industrial place, so there’s always a bit of oil on the floor and some dust on the shelves. We don't have a fancy showroom. If you come to see us, you’ll probably find us in the middle of a project, wearing aprons and holding tools. We make parts that other businesses need for their machines. It’s practical work that requires a lot of measuring and checking. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend the whole afternoon fixing it instead of working on orders. The guys here have been doing this for a long time, so they can tell if a part is right just by feeling it. We talk to our customers over the noise of the fans. It’s not the kind of place where you’d wear a suit. We just focus on making things that work and getting them delivered to the local factories around Mumbai. It’s a long day, usually starting early and finishing late, but it’s honest work that we understand well.
