Plum Berry Home Salon

Our place is at 109, on the first floor of Rehab Apartment. It is right there on Dr A B Road in Worli, not far from the Nehru Planetarium. We decided to set up a home salon because it felt more comfortable than a big shop. It is just a flat that we have converted into a workspace. You have to come up the stairs to find us. Outside, the Mumbai traffic is usually humming along, but inside it stays pretty quiet. We have been doing hair and skin work for a good while now. Most of our clients are people who live in the building or just down the street. It is a simple setup with a couple of chairs and our equipment. We don't have a big fancy reception desk or anything like that. Usually, the phone rings and we just write the name down in a diary. We spend our days doing a lot of threading, waxing, and the occasional hair color. It gets quite bright in the rooms during the afternoon. We have a small kitchen area where we make tea between clients. It’s just a few of us working here every day. We try to keep things tidy, but sometimes there are bottles and towels everywhere when we get busy. People seem to like that it’s just a regular home. It doesn't feel like those cold, clinical places in the malls. We just get on with our work.
