Zhongpeng Science Park in Zhongshan is a huge place, and we are right in the middle of it. Our building is modern compared to some, but inside it’s just the usual setup of long tables and bright overhead lights. Working in optoelectronics means we spend a lot of time looking at tiny components under magnifying glasses. The park is full of other tech companies, so the cafeteria is always packed at noon. We usually bring our own lunches and eat at the desks while we talk about the latest batch of LEDs we are testing. There’s a constant hum from the air conditioning system that you eventually stop noticing. Our space is divided into a clean area for assembly and a more cluttered area where we store the raw materials. It’s a busy environment where people are always moving between stations. Sometimes the shipments are delayed because of the rain, which happens quite often in this part of China. We have a small team, and everyone knows their role, whether it’s soldering or quality checks. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but we try to keep things accurate. The floors are polished concrete, and we have to wear those blue shoe covers to keep the dust down. It feels very functional, and we don't spend much time on decorations or anything like that. We just focus on the boards and the lights and try to stay on top of the schedule.
