Peraj Lalji & Co. is located at 152 Sarang Street. It's a busy spot right opposite Crawford Market. If you know Mumbai, you know how loud it gets there in the mornings. We've been operating out of this building for quite some time now. Being near Sadanand Hotel makes it easier for people to find us when they are walking through the crowd. The street is always full of carts and people moving goods back and forth. Inside our space, things are pretty straightforward. We don’t have fancy carpets or glass walls. It’s just desks, stacks of paper, and the sound of the ceiling fans. We deal with the daily trade and handle whatever comes our way from the market area. Sometimes the rain makes the street a bit of a mess, but we just keep the doors open and continue. Most of our day is spent talking to people who drop by or checking on the deliveries. It’s an old building, so it has its quirks like the narrow stairs and the way the light hits the front windows in the afternoon. We don’t try to make it look like something it isn’t. It’s a place of work, and we’ve been here long enough that the neighbors all know us by name. You won't find anything flashy here, just a group of us getting the job done near the market chaos. We usually grab tea from the vendor outside twice a day and just focus on the orders that need to be filled.
