Penguin International, Muscat

Penguin International has its roots here in the Old Lic Colony area of Mumbai. Even though the name says Muscat, we are firmly planted at L/10 New Vallabh Nagar. Mumbai 400 103 is a crowded neighborhood, and we’ve been part of it for a good bit of time. It’s a small operation compared to the giants, but we keep busy enough. Most of the day is spent dealing with calls and keeping track of whatever needs doing. We don't really have a big fancy reception area. It’s more of a desk-and-files kind of setup. The stairs are a bit narrow, and the tea guy comes around twice a day which is usually the highlight of our afternoon. We handle different international bits and pieces, mostly coordinating things that need to get from point A to point B. It’s not always smooth sailing. Sometimes the internet goes down or the heat gets to be too much, but we manage somehow. People around here know us by name. We don't bother with those big corporate meetings that go on for hours. We just talk across the room to get things sorted. It’s a simple way of doing business, but it works for us. We have seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but we are still here at the same spot in Vallabh Nagar, just getting on with the daily grind and making sure things stay on track for everyone involved. It is just a normal life here.
