Pelican Carbon Brush Pvt Ltd operates from 7/8 C Kandivali West, right in Parekh Nagar on S V Road. We are on the second floor of an industrial estate near the Kandivali Police Station. The building is one of those typical industrial structures where you can hear the hum of machines from the moment you walk in. We make carbon brushes, which are small parts but very important for motors and tools. Our floor is always covered in a bit of black dust because that is just the nature of working with carbon. We have a few old machines that have been running for years and some newer ones too. The space is filled with the smell of metal and electricity. Being near the police station means it’s a landmark everyone knows. The stairs up to the second floor are steep, and we are constantly moving crates up and down. Our team is small, mostly guys who have been doing this kind of mechanical work their whole lives. We don't have air conditioning in the main workshop, so we keep the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes off S V Road. It gets noisy with the traffic and the machines, but we are used to it by now. We just focus on the measurements and making sure the brushes fit like they are supposed to. It's plain, hard work without any bells or whistles.
