Our office is tucked away in 1st Panjrapole Lane, inside the Bhagirathi Bhuvan building. It’s one of those old-school Mumbai spots where the walls are thick and the stairs have seen a lot of feet over the years. Being in the dyes and chemicals trade, things can get a bit technical, but for us, it’s just our daily job. We spend most of our time dealing with orders and checking the stock lists. The area around Panjrapole is always crowded, so getting anything delivered or picked up takes a bit of planning. You have to know the shortcuts. Inside the office, it’s mostly just files and the smell of old paper. We aren’t really into the whole corporate culture thing. We prefer to keep it simple. If someone calls, we answer. If a shipment is stuck, we figure out why. It’s a small team, so we all end up doing a bit of everything. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, or the monsoon leaks through a window, but we just put a bucket down and keep moving. Paramount Dyes & Chemicals has been at this address for a while, and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the lane. It’s noisy and busy outside, but once you step into Bhagirathi Bhuvan, it feels like a different world. We just do our work and go home to our families.
