Osaka

We are over here in Kalbadevi at No. 178 Ab, tucked away on the second floor of the Riddhi-Siddhi building. It’s room number seven. If you know this part of Mumbai, you know how Cavel Cross Lane No. 7 can get. It is crowded and noisy most of the time, but that is just how it goes in this neighborhood. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. The office isn't anything fancy to look at. Just some desks, a few chairs, and a lot of paperwork piled up everywhere. Osaka is what we call ourselves. Most days, we are just busy keeping up with things coming in and going out. It gets hot in the afternoons, especially when the breeze doesn't reach the second floor. We usually have the tea guy come by twice a day, which helps keep everyone moving. The stairs are a bit narrow, so carrying heavy stuff up is a bit of a workout. We don't really have a big staff, just a few of us making sure things don't fall behind. We don't spend much time worrying about how the place looks to outsiders. It’s a workspace, plain and simple. Sometimes the electricity acts up, or the internet slows down when it rains hard, but we manage. People stop by, the phones ring, and we just keep at it until it's time to lock up and head home through the Kalbadevi traffic.
