We are based out of Mothijui in the Uran area, which is part of Raigad district. Since we are close to the water, you can often smell the salt in the air. Uran is a busy place because of the shipping activity, but our little spot in Mothijui is a bit more relaxed. The office is just a simple concrete building. It gets a lot of wear and tear from the humid sea air, so the paint peels a bit faster than we’d like. Inside, there are stacks of papers and maps on the walls. We spend our days tracking shipments and making sure the documentation is in order. It’s a lot of phone calls and checking the computer screens. During the monsoon, the rain really pours down here, and we sometimes have to put buckets out if the roof acts up. We have a small porch where we sit sometimes during lunch to get some fresh air. The staff is a small group, mostly people who live nearby. We don't bother with corporate talk or fancy titles. We just call each other by name and get the job done. It’s a humble place, but we’ve been here for a long time and know the ins and outs of the local area and the port traffic. We just take it one day at a time and keep our heads down.
