Online Scraps

Running Online Scraps out of Mangal Orchid in Versova keeps us pretty busy. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes at A-21, especially when a lot of material comes in at once. We started this because we saw so much stuff just getting thrown away in Andheri that still had some value in it. People call us up when they have old papers, metal bits, or electronics they don’t need anymore. We aren't a big corporation with uniforms; we’re just a local crew that shows up to haul things away. The traffic on Yari Road can be a real headache, but we’ve learned the shortcuts over the years. Most of our day is spent on the phone or out on the street. It’s not the most glamorous job, dealing with what others call junk, but it’s honest work and it keeps the neighborhood a bit cleaner. We try to be fair with what we pay for scrap, though prices for things like copper or cardboard change all the time. Our office in Mangal Nagar is where we sort through everything and figure out where it needs to go next. It’s often loud and a bit messy, but that’s just the nature of the business. If you walk past the building, you’ll probably see our small truck parked nearby. We just take things as they come and try to keep up with the calls. There is always another pile of stuff to sort through tomorrow.
