Om Pile Fabrics Pvt. Ltd. operates out of the Harichand Mill Compound. We are at 2/B, right on L.B.S. Marg in Vikhroli West. It’s an old compound with a lot of history, and we’ve been part of it for quite some time. We deal with pile fabrics, which means there’s a lot of lint and fuzz in the air most days. We keep the big looms running from early morning. The noise is quite something if you aren't used to it. We don't have a fancy front office, just a small desk near the door where we keep the ledgers. Everything we do is about the texture of the cloth. We check the rolls as they come off the machines to make sure there aren't any big snags. It’s a repetitive job, but there’s a rhythm to it that you get used to. Most of us have been working together for years, so we don't need to say much to get the job done. The commute on L.B.S. Marg can be a nightmare with the traffic, so we usually get here early to beat the rush. We eat our tiffin boxes together in the break area. We aren't trying to change the world, just making sure the fabric we produce is solid and usable for whatever it’s needed for. It’s a lot of manual work and long hours on our feet. We keep a stash of tea leaves for when the afternoons get long.
