You can find O P Soni & Company over at 9 Fort Elphinstone Road, inside the Rustom Building. We are up on the mezzanine floor. The building is one of those old Mumbai structures with high ceilings and a lot of character, though the stairs can be a bit of a climb if you are not used to them. Our office is filled with the smell of old paper and ink. We have got stacks of files everywhere because we have been handling accounts and paperwork for a long time. It is often quite busy in the Fort area, with all the lawyers and traders moving about. We can hear the traffic from Elphinstone Road even when the windows are shut. Most of the people we work with have been coming to us for decades. We are not really into the modern, flashy office look. We have our old wooden desks and cabinets that have been with us from the start. Sometimes the light flickers in the hallway, but we know the building's quirks by now. We usually take a break in the afternoon to get some snacks from the vendor downstairs. It is a steady kind of work, and we do not feel the need to change how we do things just because everything else is becoming digital. We like the personal touch of meeting people in person and going through the books together. It is how we have always done things here in the city.
