Novelty Leather Goods Industries

Novelty Leather Goods Industries is tucked away in the Sussex Industrial Estate in Byculla. We are in unit 407/A. If you walk down the hall, you can smell the leather and the industrial glue from a mile away. We have been making bags and small leather items here for quite a while. The workshop is full of heavy sewing machines that make a lot of noise when they are all running at once. There are scraps of brown and black leather all over the floor by the end of the day. It is a bit of a maze inside with all the workbenches and piles of finished goods waiting to be packed. We don't have any air conditioning, just some old ceiling fans that wobble. The light is a bit dim in the corners but the workers know exactly what they are doing. We mostly focus on getting the orders finished on time. It is a tough business with a lot of manual work. We don't really have a showroom for people to browse. Usually, it's just wholesale buyers who come in to check the quality of the stitching. We have a small corner for filing papers and keeping the books. It's dusty and a bit cramped but it works for us. Everyone here has been doing this for a long time. We take a break in the afternoon to have some tea and sit on the stools outside for a bit of air.
