Nityanand Leather Works

We run Nityanand Leather Works out of Tukai Niwas, which is right on the Dharavi Main Road in the Nagdevi area. It’s a very busy part of town, always full of people and activity. Our workshop has been here for years. You can usually smell the leather as soon as you get close to the door. It’s a small space, and we have it packed with rolls of material, tools, and sewing machines. We do all kinds of leather work, from repairs to making new items. It’s not a clean, modern office. There’s scraps of leather on the floor and the sound of hammers is pretty constant. We aren't a big factory. It’s just a few of us who know the trade well. We spend our days cutting, stitching, and finishing pieces by hand. The main road is right outside, so it’s never quiet, but we like the energy of Dharavi. Most people find us by word of mouth. Someone gets a bag fixed or a belt made, and they tell their friends. We don't have a website or do any marketing. We just focus on the piece of leather that's on the bench in front of us. It’s hard work on the hands, but it’s what we know how to do. If you need something made of leather, you just come in and we talk about it.
