Niteen Parulekar Architects Pvt Ltd is located over in the Shaik Imam area of Mumbai. It’s a busy part of the city, which is pretty standard for Maharashtra. Our office isn't anything too special to look at, just a place where we get the drafting and planning done. We’ve been at it for a while, dealing with the usual ups and downs of running an architecture firm in a place as crowded as this. There are always lots of papers everywhere and the phones seem to ring at the most inconvenient times. We spend our days trying to make sense of site measurements and local regulations, which can be a real headache. The team here just gets on with it. We drink a lot of tea and spend way too much time looking at computer screens. When we aren't in the office, we are usually out at a site somewhere, probably getting dusty while we check on progress. It’s a lot of coordination between different people and sometimes things don’t go exactly as planned, so we have to fix it on the fly. The neighborhood has its own rhythm and we’ve become a part of that over the years. We don't really do the whole fancy corporate presentation thing. We just show the drawings and explain how the building is supposed to work. It’s a straightforward way of doing business in a city that is anything but simple, and we like it that way.
