National Auto Silencer

Down on Gazdar Bandh Road in Santacruz West, we’ve got our shop set up for anyone who needs work done on their car’s exhaust. It’s a busy road, and we’re right in the thick of it with the traffic passing by all day long. National Auto Silencer isn't a showroom; it’s a garage where things get dirty and loud. We spend most of our time under vehicles or hunched over a welding torch. There’s always a bit of soot on our clothes and grease under our fingernails, but that’s the nature of silencer work. The shop floor is stained with oil from years of different cars coming in and out. We keep our tools on a rolling rack that’s seen a lot of use, and sometimes we have to hunt around for the right wrench because someone didn't put it back. It’s hot work, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the shop, so we usually have a fan going that rattles a bit. We don’t have a waiting room with a TV or anything like that. People usually just stand around and chat while we look at their mufflers. It’s a local spot where we just focus on getting the exhaust systems fixed so people can get back on the road. The street outside is always noisy, but we’ve grown used to the chaos of Santacruz over the years.
