About I-am – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Mumbai
Working out of Nariman Point means we deal with a lot of traffic and people in a hurry. I-am has been set up here for some time. It's a small space, nothing like those giant skyscrapers you see in pictures of the area. We get the sea breeze sometimes if the wind is right. The name is a bit short, I know. People usually ask if there's more to it, but it’s just I-am. We spend most of our mornings just getting through the emails and making sure the coffee machine is actually working. It's a bit of a squeeze when everyone is in at the same time. The desks are a bit cluttered with papers and old mugs. We don't really do the whole corporate lunch thing; usually, it’s just something quick at the desk. The view isn't much, just other buildings and the street below. But it’s a good spot to be. You feel the energy of the city right outside the window. We’ve had the same neighbors for years. Sometimes we help each other out with small stuff. It’s a basic setup. We have what we need to get the day's tasks finished. No one wears ties here unless they really have to for a meeting outside. Most days it’s just jeans and shirts. We’ve grown used to the noise of the traffic. It’s just how things are at Nariman Point for us.
