Suratwala Designer Sarees

You can find us at shop number 7 in the Nagree Building, which is located directly opposite the railway station. Because we are so close to the station, there is a never-ending flow of people walking past our door, and the sound of the trains and whistles is something we hear all day long. Our shop is filled with all kinds of sarees, and we spend a lot of our time unfolding them to show the details to customers and then carefully folding them back up again. The Nagree Building is quite an old place, so it has its own character and a few quirks here and there. We do not have any air conditioning, so we rely on a couple of old ceiling fans that keep the air moving, even if they make a bit of a clicking sound. It gets especially busy when a train pulls in and people stop by to look at the sarees before they head off to their homes. We are not a high-end designer showroom with carpets and fancy lights. We have simple floors and long wooden tables where we lay out the fabrics for people to see. Sometimes the light inside isn't great, so we walk out toward the front of the shop to show how the colors look in the natural light. It is a small operation, mostly run by family, and we have been here long enough that most of the people who work around the station know us by now.
