N. M. Mehta & Co.

Our office for N. M. Mehta & Co. is located at 4/10 Shahid Bhagat Singh Road. It is right across from the Old Custom House in the Fort area. If you’ve ever walked through Fort, you know how those old buildings are and how narrow the streets can feel when they’re full of people. We’ve been based here for quite a long time. The location is very central, which helps with getting things around, even if the traffic is a nightmare most afternoons. We handle a lot of different materials and the day-to-day usually involves a lot of paperwork and talking to people who stop by. It’s an old-school way of doing things, really. We don’t have a fancy website or a huge marketing budget. Most of our work comes from people who have known us for years or just happen to see the sign while they are heading to the docks or the station. The building itself has that old Mumbai feel to it. Inside, it’s mostly just desks piled with ledgers and samples of what we sell. It’s a bit cramped, but we make it work. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too high and the streets get too loud. Dealing with supply and demand in this part of town keeps us on our toes. It is just a regular shop where we try to stay organized and helpful.
