Our shop is at 433 Narsi Natha Street in the middle of Katha Bazar. If you have ever been to Katha Bazar, you know how crowded it gets with the handcarts and the people carrying heavy loads on their shoulders. It is a very old part of the city. The buildings are tall and narrow and the streets are always full of activity. We have been sitting in this same spot for a long time. Our space is filled with stacks of goods that we trade. There isn't much room to walk around once the new stock comes in. We start our day early, usually around the same time the other shops open up. We sit on the floor cushions and wait for customers to come in and negotiate. It is a lot of talking and drinking tea while we discuss prices. Narsi Natha Street is famous for this kind of trade. You can smell all sorts of things in the air depending on what the neighbors are selling. We don't use fancy computers for everything; a lot of our notes are still kept in physical books. It’s just the way we have always done it. By the evening, we are pretty tired from the heat and the noise, but we close up the shutters and head home. It is a busy life in the bazar but it keeps us going and we know everyone around here.
