Mun Gems

Our office is located in the Panchratna building, which is a pretty well-known spot on Mama Parmanand Marg in the Opera House area. We are in room 303. If you know Mumbai, you know this is the heart of the gem trade. We deal with stones, mostly just trading and sorting. The office is small and usually smells like tea and old paper. We have these heavy desks where we sit and look at gems all day. It takes a lot of focus to spot the small details in a stone, so it’s often quiet in here. We don’t have a big fancy storefront. Most of our business comes from people we have known for years in the industry. It’s a tight-knit community around the Opera House. You walk down the halls of Panchratna and you see the same faces every day. We’ve been here long enough that we feel like part of the furniture. We don't use any high-tech marketing. We just show the stones and talk about them. Sometimes we have long days when a big lot comes in and we have to go through every single piece. It’s tiring for the eyes but it is what we do. We don't make big promises; we just try to be fair and do our work carefully.
