Our shop is right on the Andheri Kurla Road near the Marol Pipeline. If you know Mumbai, you know how crowded this area gets. We’ve been here at Anand Nagar for quite some time. It's a bit of a tight space because we have pieces of wood and finished items everywhere. People come in looking for a table or maybe a cupboard that fits their small apartments. We do what we can. Sometimes the sawdust gets on everything, but that is just part of making furniture. It isn’t a showroom with bright lights and fancy music. It’s a workshop first. You can hear the saws and the hammering most of the day. We get local people stopping by and asking for repairs too. We don't mind. The traffic outside is always loud, but we are used to it by now. J.B. Nagar is a busy spot to be. We keep the shop open late most days. It’s a family-run kind of thing. My uncle handles the finishing, and I look after the customers. We don't have a big catalog. Most people just tell us what they need, and we see if we can make it happen. It’s honest work. Sometimes we run out of space and have to move things to the sidewalk while we work. We have a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us for years. They know we aren't going to give them some sales pitch. We just tell them what wood we have and what it will cost.
