Monji Vishram & Co

Monji Vishram & Co is situated at 306, Sheikh Memon Street. Now, if you know this part of Mumbai, you know it is the heart of the old market area. The streets are incredibly narrow and packed with people, handcarts, and delivery bikes at all hours of the day. Our building is one of those old ones with a lot of character and very steep stairs. Being on the third floor means we get a bit of a break from the noise of the street, but you can still hear the shouting and the general chaos of the bazaar below. The office itself is quite traditional. We do not have cubicles or modern partitions. It is mostly open desks and tall wooden cupboards filled with years of records. The floor is made of old stone that stays relatively cool, which is nice in the summer. It is the kind of place where business is done with a lot of talk and handshakes. We have regular visitors who have been coming to this address for decades. It feels more like a part of the city’s history than a modern company. We do not have any flashy signs or a fancy lobby. People just know where we are. It is a bit dusty and crowded, but it is our home and we would not want to be anywhere else in the city. The routine here hasn't changed much in years and that suits us just fine.
