Monginis

We are set up on Yari Road Chowpatty, specifically at Jalbhai Lane 1. This Monginis is pretty much like any other, but we have the beach breeze coming in sometimes. It brings a bit of salt and sand with it, so we are always sweeping. The shop isn't very big, so we have to be smart about where we stack the extra boxes. We spend a lot of time checking the fridge temperatures. The light inside the display case makes everything look bright, which is good because the shop gets a bit dark in the corners. We usually start the day by checking what came in on the morning truck. Some days are slow, and we just stand by the door watching people walk their dogs on Yari Road. We have a small radio that we keep on low volume. The counter is a bit high for some of the kids who come in, so we often have to lean over to see them. It’s a simple life running a cake shop. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. The trash needs taking out twice a day because of all the paper scraps. We’ve got a routine down now. If the power goes out, we have to hurry and move things. It’s just a local spot where people stop by when they need a treat.
