Monginis

Our Monginis is located over at 5Th Main Road, HSR Layou in Chembur West. It’s a funny address but that’s where we are. The shop is small and smells like sugar most of the time. We have those standard display cases that hold the pastries and the bigger cakes for birthdays. Every morning starts with moving the heavy metal shutter up, which always makes a loud noise. We wipe down the counters and make sure the price tags are straight. It gets dusty being near the main road, so the cloth is always in someone's hand. We get a mix of people coming in—some are in a rush and others take ten minutes just to pick one chocolate ball. The fan in the ceiling wobbles a little but it keeps the air moving. We have a small stool in the back where we take breaks. The walls have some scuff marks from where the delivery boxes hit them. We don't really do anything fancy here. We just put the cakes in the boxes and tie the string. The string can be tricky to cut if the scissors are dull. We spend a lot of time looking out the window at the cars going by on 5th Main. It’s just a regular shop doing what it does every day. We know the people who live nearby and which ones like the pineapple cake best.
