Monginis

Down at Shop No 43/A on Kanpur Marg West in Mahavir Nagar, things stay pretty busy from the moment we unlock the metal shutters in the morning. This Monginis has been part of the local market scene for a while now. We spend a lot of our time making sure the display is stocked and that the price tags are visible for everyone. It gets pretty warm in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the shop, so we usually keep the door propped open with a brick. You’ll hear the sounds of the street, cars honking and people shouting, filtering in all day long. We have a few regulars who come in every single day for the same thing, and we usually have it ready before they even get to the counter. The walls have a few marks where boxes have bumped into them over the years, but it gives the place character. We don't really bother with decorations much, just the usual signs. When the holidays come around, we get a lot of big orders and the whole back room gets filled with stacks of containers. It can be a bit of a squeeze to move around back there without hitting your elbow. We try to keep the glass clean, but fingerprints always seem to appear out of nowhere. It’s just how it goes when you have a lot of kids coming through. We like being in Mahavir Nagar.
