Our shop is right in the middle of the Kazi Sayed Street area in Mumbai. If you know where Masjid Station is, then you know how loud and crowded it gets around here every single day. We are located in Hem Prakash, at Shop 1 on Plot 90/92. This is the Khand Bazar area, so the smell of different spices and tea is always hanging in the air outside our door. We deal with commodities, mostly getting goods from one place to another for our clients. It is not easy work because the traffic on these narrow streets is a total nightmare every morning. Most of our day is spent yelling over the noise of handcarts and the heavy trucks that block the lanes. We have been in this exact spot for a long time. The office is small and usually filled with various sacks and samples that we need to check. We do not have a big staff, just a few of us who have worked in this market for years. Sometimes we have to stay quite late when a shipment gets delayed at the port, but that is just how things go in Mumbai. We do not have a fancy website or a marketing team. People find us because they have been working in the bazaar and know where we sit. It is a lot of handshakes and quick phone calls to keep things moving. We keep our records in big registers, which is a bit old-fashioned but it works for us.
