It’s crowded down here at Lohar Chawl. Our place is in the Tawawala Building, specifically Plot No. 149. If you know the area near Crawford Market, you know how it is. The streets are narrow and there’s always someone pushing a cart or carrying a heavy load on their head. Our office has been in this building for a long time. The stairs are a bit steep and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it feels like home to us. We’ve seen the market change a lot over the years, but the energy stays the same. People come in looking for things, and we do our best to find what they need in the stacks. It’s not a quiet place. You can hear the shouting from the market and the honking of motorcycles outside our window. We mostly just focus on the orders and getting things packed up. There isn't much room for a lounge, so we just sit where we can. Lunch is usually brought from home and eaten at the main table while we talk about the news or the weather. It’s a bit chaotic, honestly, but that’s just how business goes in this part of town. We don't have a marketing team or anyone to make us look bigger than we are. It’s just us here at the building. If you're coming from the market side, just look for the old gate.
