Down here in Fort, things are always crowded. Tata Motors Limited has been at 24 Homi Mody Street for ages. The building is made of that old stone you see everywhere in this part of Mumbai. It’s a busy street, and there’s always people rushing past the front doors. Inside, it’s a mix of old architecture and people working on computers. It’s not like the factory where they actually build the cars; this is more about the paperwork and the planning. You can hear the taxis honking outside all day long. We don’t really have a lot of space for anything extra, so every desk is usually covered in files or coffee cups. It’s a lot of stairs and narrow hallways. We see a lot of people in suits coming and going, but there are also plenty of us just doing our regular jobs. The air feels a bit heavy because of the humidity from the ocean nearby. We usually take our breaks at the small shops around the corner. It’s a historic spot, but it feels like any other office when you’re actually sitting there working. We just focus on the tasks at hand and try to stay on top of everything. It’s a long day, especially with the commute most of us have. But this is the heart of the city, and we’re right in the middle of it.
