Modern Thermoplastics India Pvt Ltd is located at Unit 20 in the Blue Rose Industrial Estate in Goregaon East. Being in an industrial estate means there is always a lot of activity around us, with trucks loading and unloading at all hours. Our shop is where we handle all the plastic work. It gets very hot because of the machines that melt the plastics, so we always have the big shutters open to let the air in. There is a specific smell that comes with this kind of work, and after a few hours, you don't even notice it anymore. We spend the day watching the molds and making sure the pieces come out like they are supposed to. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we spend half the day with a wrench trying to get it started again. It is a lot of physical work and standing on your feet. The Blue Rose estate is a good spot for us, and we know most of the guys working in the other units. We usually eat our lunch together near the entrance where it is a bit cooler. We aren't a giant corporation with thousands of workers, just a group of people who know how to handle thermoplastics. The floor is stained and the walls could use a new coat of paint, but the machines work and that is what keeps us busy. We just focus on the task at hand and try to stay cool.
