Our office for Mideast Portfolio Mgmt. Pvt. Ltd is in a small room at Arun Kutir Chawl in Mumbai. It is room number 02. If you know Mumbai, you know how life in a chawl is. It is loud and busy and there is always something happening right outside the door. We handle various portfolio management tasks here, which mostly involves looking at market numbers and filing a lot of paperwork. We don't have the big glass windows or the fancy air conditioning of the downtown offices. Instead, we have a couple of sturdy desks and some old chairs that have been with us for years. The space is tight, so we have to be very careful about where we put things. Sometimes we sit outside for a bit to get some air and talk to the neighbors. It’s a very grounded way to work in the financial sector. We’ve been here for a long time and the routine stays the same. We open up early, go through the mail, and get started on the day’s records. It is honest work and we don't try to make it sound more important than it is. The commute through Mumbai is always a challenge, but we make it here every day. It’s just us doing our best with what we have in this little corner of the city. We keep to ourselves and focus on the numbers until the work is finished.
