We are located at Room No 205 on the second floor of the Barkat building. It’s right near Masjid Bunder in the Mazgaon area. This part of town is incredibly old and the streets are always packed with handcarts and people moving goods back and forth. Our office is in one of those buildings where the stairs are narrow and you have to know exactly where you’re going. Mehmood & Company has been operating from this spot for a long time. Being near Masjid Bunder means we are right in the heart of the trading district. It is noisy and there is always a lot of shouting from the street below, but you get used to it after a week or two. We spend our time handling various business matters, mostly involving a lot of paperwork and meetings with other traders from the neighborhood. The room is small and we have files stacked up against the walls. It isn't a place for showing off. It is just a functional space where we get our daily tasks done. Sometimes the lift doesn't work so we have to climb the two flights of stairs, which keeps us fit I suppose. We like being part of this old market atmosphere. It feels like real work happening every single day. We just keep our heads down and handle our business as it comes, making sure everything is in order before we lock up.
