Medica Instrument Mfg Co. is based at 105, Vasan Udyog Bhavan. You can find us in the Sunmill Compound in Lower Parel West. This whole area is full of old industrial buildings and narrow little lanes, but it works for us. We spend most of our time manufacturing various instruments. The workshop itself is a bit tight because of all the parts and tools, but we have a system and know where everything is kept. It is an older building, so it has that classic industrial feel that you don't see much anymore. Lower Parel has changed so much lately, but we have stayed right here in the compound. The commute is sometimes a bit of a struggle with the trains being so packed, but that is just life in Mumbai. We mostly focus on making things properly. We do not have a marketing department or anything like that. It is just a few of us making sure the daily orders are finished on time. The floor usually gets a bit dusty and there is always some machine noise in the background while we work. We take our tea breaks together in the afternoon. It is a very simple way of working. We handle different medical items and try to keep up with what people need. Sometimes we get a bit behind, but we eventually get through the pile. Being in Vasan Udyog Bhavan means we have other businesses nearby, which makes things feel less isolated. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
