We operate out of Uniform House, right along the Western Express Highway in Goregaon East. It’s a very busy part of town, so the sound of traffic is pretty much the background music for our entire day. The building is a bit of a landmark for us. We handle a lot of fabric and sewing here. Most of the space is taken up by cutting tables and sewing machines. It’s not a quiet office environment. There is always the hum of machines or someone calling out across the room. We focus on getting the garments right and making sure the sizes are what people asked for. Sometimes the fabric deliveries are late and we have to scramble to catch up, but that’s just how it goes in this trade. We don’t have a fancy lobby with chairs. Usually, if someone comes by, they’re standing at the counter while we check their order. It’s a no-nonsense kind of place. We’ve been doing this for a long time and we’ve gotten used to the fast pace of the highway outside. We aren't interested in being a big brand name. We just want to make sure the clothes we put out are sturdy and fit the way they should. The Western Express Highway is always moving, and sometimes it feels like we are too. We've got a lot of shelves filled with different types of cloth. Some of it has been there a while, waiting for the right project to come along.
