Mayuge Sugar Ind. Ltd., Uganda

Our office is located at A 603, Chandresh Avenue, which is inside the Lodha Heaven area near Katai in Maharashtra. Even though the name on our door says Mayuge Sugar Ind. Ltd., Uganda, this is where we handle a lot of the administrative side of things. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but it’s a decent place to work. We deal with the sugar industry, so there’s always talk about harvests and shipping schedules happening in the back room. The office is inside an apartment building, which makes it feel a lot more relaxed than a standard business park. We have a few desks set up in the main room and a kitchen where we make tea. It’s mostly just us looking at spreadsheets and making phone calls to different people involved in the trade. Katai is growing quite fast, so there’s always construction noise nearby. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and the neighbors don't seem to mind the constant coming and going. The work can be a bit repetitive, checking weights and prices all day, but it’s what we know. We don't have any big signs or anything like that. If you come to the sixth floor, you’ll find us. We just keep our heads down and try to stay on top of the logistics. It is a simple operation with just enough space for our files and a couple of computers.
