G. Gangadas Shah Sons

Our family business, G. Gangadas Shah Sons, is located in the Mandvi area, specifically at Ganga Vihar on Kazi Syed Street near the Masjid on the west side. This part of Mumbai is always crowded and noisy, but we have been here for a very long time. The building is an old one, and our shop has a lot of history in these walls. We deal with trading various goods, which is what most businesses around here do. Every morning, the street starts filling up with handcarts and trucks, and we open up the shutters to start the day's work. It is a bit cramped inside because we have a lot of ledgers and old files, plus whatever stock we are moving at the time. We aren't interested in making the place look modern or fancy. It works for us the way it is. Most of our customers are people we have known for decades. They come in, we talk for a bit, settle the business, and they go on their way. We handle a lot of paperwork and phone calls throughout the day. The area can be quite a maze for someone who isn't used to it, but for us, Kazi Syed Street feels like home. It is a traditional way of doing things, passed down through the years, and we just keep the routine going every day without much change. It is just the way we have always done it.
