Samuel Street is a very narrow and crowded place so you really have to watch your step when you’re walking. The building is one of those older ones with narrow stairs that creak a bit when you walk up. Once you get to the first floor, it’s a bit of a maze with all the different shops. Our shop is packed from floor to ceiling with different materials and finished pieces. There isn't much room to walk around once we have the new stock in. Usually, it’s just the sound of the sewing machines or the rustle of plastic bags being filled. We spend a lot of time checking the tags and making sure everything is folded right. It gets pretty warm in the afternoon so we keep the windows open, but that just lets in the street noise. People are always shouting down below and the horns never seem to stop. We have been in this spot for a while and we know most of the other shopkeepers in the building. We usually share a pot of tea in the afternoon when things slow down. It’s a busy life but we are used to it by now. Just a small shop on a busy street doing our daily work. It’s crowded but we make it work. Every day is pretty much the same and that’s fine by us.
