Akshat Enterprise

If you know the Masjid Bunder area, you know how crowded Kazi Sayyed Street can get at almost any hour. Our place, Akshat Enterprise, is located on the second floor, specifically in Room Number 1 at building 12/14. It is a bit of a climb up those stairs, but we have gotten used to it after all these years. The building is old and carries that specific smell of the market area, mixed with spices and wood. We spend most of our hours here dealing with whatever work comes through the door. It is not a big space, just enough for the desks and the stock we need to keep on hand. Dealing with deliveries in this part of Mumbai is always a challenge because the lanes are so narrow. You learn to time things right or you will be stuck for hours. We do not have any fancy signs or neon lights. Most people who come here already know the way or were told by someone else. It gets pretty loud outside with the handcarts and the shouting from the street below, but inside, we just keep our heads down and work. It is a bit of a maze in this building, and sometimes people get lost looking for the right room. We have thought about moving to a more modern place, but there is something about being right in the middle of the trading hub that keeps us here.
