R Harilal Co is located at No. 236 Samuel Street. We are on the first floor, specifically in Office No. 1, which looks out over the Main Market. Being in the market means there is never a dull moment. You can hear the trucks unloading and the people bargaining downstairs from early in the morning. To get to us, you have to go up a narrow flight of stairs that feels a bit steep. The office itself is one of those traditional spaces with high ceilings. We have a few heavy wooden desks and some old steel cupboards for the files. The floor is stone and stays relatively cool even when it is hot outside. Samuel Street is a famous spot, and being right in the heart of the Main Market makes it easy for people to find us, even if the traffic is a nightmare. We keep a small kettle in the corner for making tea during the slow parts of the day. There is no air conditioning, just the big windows and a couple of ceiling fans. We have kept the layout the same for years because it works for the way we handle our business. It is a busy environment, and sometimes the noise from the market makes it hard to hear on the phone. But we are used to it by now. It feels like home to us after all this time.
